Intricate Turkish patterns decorate the pierced metal top of this concertina lantern. Famously used during the Crimean War, lanterns like these were designed with an inset domed lid, which slides sideways to reveal a metal votive holder. An accordion cloth shade folds flat for travel, and a forged hook and handle allow the lantern to be hung or carried.
